Thou Shalt No Kill - Part Two

The events of yesterday in Florida opened the way for part 2 of the series of "THOU SHALT NOT KILL"

Breaking News #1 : Federal Air Marshal fires weapon on a plane on the runway at Miami Interantional Airport.

Breaking News #2 : A man shot and wounded on a Jetway at Miami International Aiport said he had a bomb, a senior administration official told CNN.

Breaking News #3 : A man shot on a boarding bridge at Miami International Aiport has died from his injuries, two sources tell CNN.

I was sitting here giving the breaking news to some people as it was being delivered. I made the remark: "I hope he did have a bomb on his person, otherwise the government is going to have to pay out some serious money"

This conversation then drifted on the subject of murder and defense. It was asked if a teenager comes up to you pointing a gun which happens to fake, what do you do?. At the time I did not have an answer. But after reading a story of the conversion of a Jewish man to Catholicsm, God gave the answer via this man's testimony.

You should be prepared to give your life for Christ, as Christ gave his life for the Church.

Matthew 10 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

But Jesus also promised the payoff by adding:

39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

When Jesus told Thomas, "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life,(John 14:6) He used the word Halakha to express way. He said, "I am the Halakha." Halakha is the way Jews implement God's commandments in daily life, the sum and substance of the written and oral Torah, the rabbinic legislation, and the commentaries. Jesus taught the two Torah commandments that had always been the pure essense of Halakha: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might(Deut 6:5) and, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."(Lev 19:18) . Jesus affirmed that the New Convenant is the distilled essence of the old: "On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets."(Matt 22:40) Jews have always recognized that the Ten Commandments (Exod 20, Deut 5) reflect these two great command.

The fifth Commandment: "THOU SHALT NOT KILL" It is literal and straight forward. There is no symbolism, there is no figurativeness. It is straight out truth. There are no exceptions. If you kill your neighbor then you are not loving your neighbor. Plain and simple.

So back to the original question, but this time put a real gun in the hands of the youth. What do you do according the direct words of God and Jesus?
YOU SHALT NOT KILL THAT YOUTH AND YOU SHALT LOVE THAT YOUTH AS YOURSELF! You may be permitted to shoot the youth but only after he has shot first and then you can only shoot to disarm not "SHOOT TO KILL". Shooting first makes you the aggressor and the youth the victim.

What should you really do in light of the scriptures above and the scripture below:

Mt 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Lu 6:29And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.

You should run for your life and pray for protection from God. That action alone would uphold all the teachings of Jesus.

Also know that if you are indeed shot and killed by the youth and that you did have the power and ability to shoot and kill this youth, but you followed the commandments of God and Jesus to not kill and to love your neighbor as yourself, you have in essence died defending the teaching of Jesus and his commandments for Jesus' sake....

Let's say you do shoot first and you kill the youth. You have in essence rejected God by rejecting his fifth commandment and in essence have rejected Jesus by rejecting his commands to love neighbor as self. And then let's say that within a second of killing the youth, you are instantly struct down dead with a massive heart attack. You have just died in a state of rejection of God. Where do you stand spiritually in the eyes of Christ?

Yes where will you spend eternity? That may be one of the reasons I have never in my life have owned a gun....

They say that "guns don't kill people" but "people kill people".
Yes that is true, BUT if you don't have a gun in hand, it makes it a lot harder to kill a person and in it probably buys you some time and hopefully you can come to a Jesus conclusion.

Good day and go live the Gospel!
